| Artist Biography
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee with a BS - Architecture in 1983. During college I took several art course's including Figure Drawing, Composition & Color and Oil Painting. 1983 - 1996: During this period I was starting my career as an Architect and would product 4-6 pieces of art per year. I mainly did drawings using pastel pencils and some oil paintings. 1996 - Present: I continue my career as an architect and started my own firm in 1996 (see link at the bottom left). In 1999 I started to work with pen & wood as a new medium for my art. I produced an increasing number of pieces and in 2002 decided to bring my work to the art loving public thru art fairs and at galleries. In 2003 I started to carve hardwoods and incorporate my pen & ink technique in the finished carving. In 2004 I built a cedar strip kayak and incorporated my art as part of the boat. In 2005 I built a shop, gallery & studio addition to my home so I can continue to improve my work. Due to the great response to my kayak, this fall & winter I will be building a cedar strip canoe and will also decorate this boat with my artwork. I am also continuing to market my work to both art galleries and at Art Fairs with increasing success. This has encouraged me to grow as an artist and strive to new levels of creativity.
